San Candido will once again become an international meeting point for vintage cycling and Eroica culture as Eroica Dolomiti celebrates its 10th edition on 5 September 2026. This year’s event is already set to be its most international edition yet, with 350 riders from 21 countries registered. Italy represents the largest group, followed by Germany and Austria, alongside riders from Belgium, France and the United Kingdom. Participants will also travel to the Dolomites from as far as the United States, Australia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
Over the years, Eroica Dolomiti has established itself as an international fixture on the vintage cycling calendar, bringing together historic bicycles, some of Europe’s most spectacular mountain scenery and the distinctive philosophy of L’Eroica.
“Eroica Dolomiti brings together the passion for vintage racing bicycles and the unique setting of the Dolomites. We are particularly delighted to welcome guests from 21 countries this year: it is an important sign of the reputation the event has gained far beyond Europe,” says Dieter Wurmböck, President of the San Candido Tourism Association.
Including the climb to Prato Piazza, one of the most spectacular high-altitude landscapes in the Dolomites.
Across all three routes, the focus is not on the clock but on the experience: riding historic bicycles, sharing the road with other cyclists and discovering one of Europe’s most iconic cycling landscapes.
The Eroica Dolomiti weekend begins on Friday 4 September with the Vintage Bike Market in the centre of San Candido. In the afternoon, the Eroica Dolomiti Aperitivo will bring riders and visitors together with live music, before Giancarlo Brocci, founder of L’Eroica, officially welcomes participants at 6 pm.
The evening will feature CicloCinema, combining cycling and outdoor cinema. Riders will set off together on a short ride to a special location surrounded by nature, where an open-air film screening will be powered entirely by bicycles. The audience itself will generate the electricity needed for the screening by pedalling, turning cinema into a collective and sustainable experience in true Eroica spirit.
On Saturday 5 September at 8 am, riders will set off on the 10th Eroica Dolomiti. While they explore the Dolomites on their vintage bicycles, the Vintage Bike Market, music and entertainment will continue throughout the day in San Candido.
Founded in Tuscany in 1997, L’Eroica promotes a distinctive way of experiencing cycling and the landscapes through which it travels. Participants ride vintage or vintage-inspired bicycles on roads that tell the story of cycling and the communities that surround them.
More than a race, L’Eroica is about effort, landscape, shared experience and the pleasure of riding together.
